Formed by man nearly 100 years ago, the chain of six Venetian Islands connects Miami to Miami Beach along a convenient route fed from downtown Miami and exiting onto Miami Beach at the doorstep of world-famous South Beach with its well known nightlife and trendy restaurants. Originally part of an eleven-island design that would have extended further north into Biscayne Bay, the westernmost three islands are considered part of Miami while the easternmost islands pledge to Miami Beach. The remaining five islands of the master plan were never built, following the demise of the development company and a movement to preserve the pristine waterway. Perimeter pilings for one of the largest planned islands can still be seen jutting above Biscayne Bay between the Julia Tuttle Causeway and Venetian Causeway. The inner islands are exclusively devoted to luxurious single family homes while magnificent mid-rise condominiums grace the westernmost and easternmost islands offering additional options for sophisticated island living. Pleasure craft are docked outside many Venetian Island homes, in testimony to the many watery splendors of life on the bay.
Living on the Venetian Islands offers close proximity to South Beach plus quick access to the arts, business and shopping of downtown Miami from a serene yet majestic setting directly on Biscayne Bay. Ideal as a base for busy Miami entrepreneurs and business leaders, the Venetian Islands are also just moments away from Miami International Airport and the Port of Miami, home to many superb cruise lines. When contemplating an exclusive address with splendid bay and city views, one should include property on the Venetian Islands in any serious search.
